Joy
Prayer of praise:
Wonderful Counsellor,
Mighty-God,
You fill each day with your
gift of light, freeing those living
in a land of deep shadow.
You make their gladness greater
You make their joy increase.
I praise and thank you for your
great goodness.

Galatians 5: 22-23
But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.
Reflection: JOY!
There is a difference between joy and happiness. Simply stated, happiness is tied to our circumstances while joy is not. Happiness is an emotion and temporary; but joy is an attitude of the heart and it is always with us. It is something that bubbles within us, deep down in the soul and arises from our Christian belief that the Holy Spirit enables us to have an intimate relationship with God, which gives us that good joyous feeling.
If asked to define joy, most people would give a word similar to gladness, such as happiness, contentment, or delight. While these words define the emotion of joy, none reflect the source of the emotion. Joy has its spring deep down inside us. And that spring never runs dry, no matter what happens. Even if we experience something which saddens us or angers us – as the Psalmist wrote, ‘Tears may flow in the night; but joy comes in the morning’. (Psalm 30) -so always be joyful – choose JOY today.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we approach you, praying that you fill us with the joy of the Lord; that overwhelming joy. Your joy is unlike anything this world has to offer. It brings peace, trust and hope and with that rest, knowing that you are in control and trusting that your Word will sustain us always. For those who feel that there is no joy in their lives
we ask that you will be the deliverer of all good things.
That you will be a constant source of comfort, peace and wellbeing.
Nehemiah 8:10 tells us ‘don’t be sad. The joy that the Lord gives you will make you strong.’
May that joy, peace and strength enable us to smile through any storm, confident that we will come out stronger for it. Amen
