St Ninian's needs you!
Maybe you’d like to start by making just one small commitment to God – perhaps commit to saying a short prayer each day, for other people or for yourself – it’s a good place to start! Or contact our minister Carolann for a chat about faith or about getting involved in the church.

Without commitment, you cannot have depth in anything, whether it's a relationship, business or hobby.

What is Christian commitment? Committing to something (anything) usually means making a sacrifice of some kind. We all struggle with commitment – but subconsciously we all know what it is. No sacrifice really means no commitment, and in a culture where there’s always something brighter and newer round the corner, and where the fruits of commitment are rarely seen, most people find it less and less appealing.
To make things harder we may understand some things to be more fulfilling to us than they actually might be and so we’re confused as to what to commit to. So nowadays it’s a big deal to take commitment on. But did you know that St. Ninian’s is a registered charity that needs your support?
The Bible says, “Salvation is given to those that endureth to the end!” Commitment is to see something through – not halfway – but all the way, right to the end. Jesus was the best example – a real man who gave up everything for love, right through till the end. We can’t be as perfect as Jesus but we can have Him as a role model!
How we respond to commitment can also be an important test of character. It may be a commitment at work or a commitment to a partner. So what if we break a commitment? – We’ve all done it and felt bad about it. We’ve all made wrong turns and decisions. But take heart – although a commitment broken should be seen for what it is – God forgives! What if we have been part of a church before and turned our backs? Then know that you will receive a warm welcome again.
Christ made a commitment to us – while we were still sinners, Jesus Christ, who was sinless, died for us. Commitment is the beginning of trusting God. Commit everything you do to God – trust him to help you do it and he will. However, our commitment to God should be consistent – it should be a life commitment – inside and out, but it’s what goes on inside that shapes what happens on the outside and it’s what’s on the inside that Jesus looks for first. A committed Christian is one who is committed to Christ and His Cause. Commitment is a way of the heart expressing itself in a way of life.

The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.

Prayer
Father God, help me to grow in the awareness that you are really my sustenance and nobody else. Help me to know that only you can make me become somebody in life and help me to rest in your strength as I realise how weak I really am. In your strength, show me how, with your help, I can make a commitment to St. Ninian’s church. I pray that I may be solely and wholly committed to my walk with you all the days of my life. I pray that I may be wholly contented with my life with you for the rest of my days. I pray that I may not turn away from the path of righteousness and I pray that no evil will have a chance to snatch me from your kingdom. Amen
