This is a wonderful contribution from Christopher, aged 10.
Prayer
O Lord, hear my prayer. O Lord, hear my prayer. When I call, answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer. O Lord, hear my prayer. Come and listen to me.
Affirming and encouraging people is such a wonderful thing to do. The likelihood is though, we have all been greatly discouraged at various times in our lives. Being told at school, “You will never amount to much,” or being shunned by family members as “the runt of the family,” or perhaps being put down by a lover or partner are just some of the ways that we can feel unloved or feel that we will never accomplish much in life.
Perhaps you have been there… in that so-called pit of life where nothing seems to go well and no one seems to offer a helping hand. It certainly can feel like a very lonely place with little light and little hope. Perhaps you have had a period of unexplainable sorrow in your life or a series of losses.
In Psalm 40:1-3 we find these wonderful words to help us: “I waited patiently for the Lord’s help; then he listened to me and heard my cry. He pulled me out of a dangerous pit, out of the deadly quicksand. He set me safely on a rock and made me secure. He taught me to sing a new song, a song of praise to our God. Many who will see this will take warning and will put their trust in the Lord.”
Take time now to let your heart be encouraged in God. Stir up your faith, even if it is as small as a mustard seed, and whet your appetite to trust in God more than you have ever trusted him before. No one is more trustworthy than God.
The Psalmist talks about how he came through situations time after time because, the absence of all other substitutes forced him to lean hard on God. We can do this too because no matter how hard we lean on God’s promises, we cannot break them. What an awesome God we have. Trust him. Learn to love him more than ever. He knows you have integrity so, seek no other refuge but the living God through Jesus. What magnificent words of hope and light and love because your knowledge of God and your love for God will be on display in how you respond to all situations. Let your light shine. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Thank God. Love God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and receive his peace and forgiveness so that your life can be transformed.
